Autumn Florals

Some images from my Pinterest Creative Floral's Board.

Floral's tug at my heartstrings for they remind me of Nana. My grandmother was a buyer for a nationwide floral retailer and traveled to New York on buying trips and across country to train the companies florist. After she retired she held an annual open house in November which transformed her home into a floral utopia; autumn and Christmas arrangements, wreaths and sprays filled every corner. Nana always allowed me to pick out one smaller priced item--such a difficult choice! Ultimately I'd select a whimsical Santa Claus or reindeer among snow flocked holly and pine.Santa, Rudolf, snow and holly must wait . . . this post is all about the warm hues of autumn and floral's that share Nana's style. What was her style you ask? Several decades removed from those open houses, I'd say it is a timeless look. Hand selected floral's with organic touches: a birds nest, feathers, seed pods, berry's and nuts . . .

Here are some of my finds from Pinterest that have that Nana flair about them. Enjoy!

Feathers blend beautifully with the russets, creams and oranges.

My Autumn Table

Warm whites and autumnal hues, perfect for a fall day.

I've packed away Halloween and turned my decorating attention to Thanksgiving. The amber glassware is Madrid and we've inherited 4 divided plates, 4 saucers and 2 platters from hubby's Italian grandma. The amber is perfect for fall and I love layering them with my Italian Countryside dinnerware. Being that grandma was Italian, I'd think she'd agree.

The tablecloth is a new buy from Walmart's BHG line, cheap and gorgeous! A few years ago I painted the chairs and table pedestal a chartreuse green and still love the color. The woven chargers were an end of the season clearance at my local grocery store, so much cheaper then PB's!

Alright

I love this hand painted sign and the message it conveys. I use a chalkboard and write a weekly quote with a positive vibe to it.

Good bye Brass

Krylon’s Looking Glass spray paint, which dries into a mirror-like finish. First, spray the body of your plain glass with clean water. While the surface is wet, spray it thoroughly with Looking Glass spray paint. The water will prevent the paint from completely adhering to the surface – exactly what’s required to achieve the characteristically blotchy look of genuine mercury glass. Let the paint dry overnight, and repeat the process to the darkness of your liking.
