Annie Sloan Chalk Paint: Old White Magic

Yesterday I was busy emptying out one of the bedrooms for what we have dubbed the Pullman Bedroom, the room will be outfitted with two iron beds (Craigslist finds), paired with two Pullman Resort posters (Cafe Press)and the waterfall rail travel themed dresser I completed a few weeks back.I can't wait to see all of the elements together and have that big reveal!

Reality, after you have lived in a house for sixteen years, emptying any room is a major chore. After removing the furniture, the closet alone took hours. I felt like a child that had homework while all the other kids were playing. This part of the project is time consuming and dull, filled with dust and loads of decisions. What to throw out, what to give away, and how to store the keeps.

The closet was filled with boxes of pictures, pictures we've taken, pictures from our parents and grandparents collections. These will be boxed, again, until I have the time and will be one huge project itself.

Oops! I almost forgot the before photo.
I was getting quite itchy, I just needed a creative outlet, something that could be finished in a short time span. Something I could complete while making those runs downstairs to the trash and the laundry room. Then I remembered this black lamp, purchased at Goodwill for $7.00 a couple of years ago. The one my daughter used in her last rental, then abandoned and cast aside to a dark corner of our basement.

here is the after. I love the lamps new softer look.
Two coats and she has a whole new vibe.

Yes, this Goodwill find looks great in our bedroom. The height is perfect for reading and ASCP's Old White gives this piece a nice warm look.
Here she is, and now I have my mini-reveal and the opportunity to party.

Great job! It looks as good as new!

It does look great, but don't you get chalk on your fingers after touching it? (I know you shouldn't supposed to touch it all the time, but just in case you do). My knowledge is not very good when talking about paint though :) http://doityourselfbyruta.wordpress.com/

The chalk paint doesn't come off on my hands, but for cleaning purposes I will add a clear wax finish.
